Due to the, frankly ludicrous, EU VAT ruling that comes into force on the 1st January 2015, I have been forced to remove all digital downloads from the site until further notice.
You can still purchase products until the 31st December, then I will remove them from sale. Click here for more details.
What’s Going On?
Without going into too much detail, the EU has made changes to the way VAT has to be collected for sales within the European Union. This adds significant administrative burden (and therefore cost) to people who sell digital products online. This doesn’t just effect me, it effects anyone that sells digital products to within the EU.
Now, I would like to say that I sell so many digital products that I can easily absorb the extra administration and cost burden, but in truth, these sales are only a very small percentage of my income and it is, at the stage, simply too much trouble to continue to sell them in the way that I am.
What’s Going To Happen Now?
From 1st January I will remove all digital products from sale from my site. This will hopefully only be a short term measure until the “dust settles”. Either the EU will change or repeal these changes (although I remain doubtful) or I will find an alternative way of delivering these products that avoids the ridiculous additional cost burden. I will most probably publish the ebooks on Kindle, but this requires a rather large reformatting job, which will take a bit of time. I am not sure what to do with the Advanced Language Flash Cards as yet, which is a shame as these are my top sellers and the product that I get the most positive feedback from.
I will update you as and when I have more news.
