Today I am sitting here mulling over the new layout of this site. Nothing too fancy of a change, merely a few new pages, get rid of some of the old ones and update the ones that are left to reflect the changing focus of my work. So you will probably see a different site over the next few weeks if you are regular visitor.
Which makes me think about ecology checks when you take action of some kind to change your life. Whether that is something small or something HUGE.
(Ecology is a fancy word for “the relationship between an organism – in this case us – and it’s environment)
Anthony Robbins puts it something like this: “You decide your outcome is to see a sunset, so you take massive action to see that sunset. Then you run east…You ain’t never going to see that sunset!”
(Talking of Anthony Robbins, he is doing an event in London in May. I highly recommend that you attend. It is a life changing weekend. More details will up here very soon.)
So, you decide on your outcome and you take the action to do it. BUT you have to KEEP CHECKING you are doing the right thing.
One of the presuppositions of NLP is “If you are not getting the outcome you desired, do something different!”
We check on ecology in terms of:
• Is it balanced or out-of-balanced?
• Is it healthy or unhealthy?
• Does it enhance life or does it create limitations?
• Does it empower a person or does it create dis-empowerment?
• Does it increase resourcefulness or is it unresourceful?
• Does it bring out our best or sabotage our efforts?
We “run an ecology check” to avoid repeating what does not work.
I believe it was Einstein that said the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result!
